HONG KONG, 11 April 2018 – This April, London developer Mount Anvil, in a joint venture partnership with L&Q, will unveil The Silk District – a new collection of design-led homes set amidst a thriving urban quarter in the heart of London's Whitechapel, E1. Delivering more than 450 studio, one, two and three-bedroom apartments over four phases, the scheme has been intelligently designed by Stockwell Architects, and is just moments from the upcoming Whitechapel Crossrail Station, and the East End's rich arts and culture scene.

Synonymous with the silk trade, Whitechapel harbours an industrial heritage that dates back centuries to the craftsmanship and creativity of the French Huguenots – the silk weaving artisans who settled in the area during the 17th century. This legacy has been suffused into the scheme's name and identity, which today assimilates the cutting-edge fashion and style and for which East London is renowned.

The cultural diaspora of Whitechapel has culminated in both an enduring sense of community, and an avant-garde cultural scene, which benefits from and is driven forward by the area's ambition and aspiration. Famed for institutions such as the revered Whitechapel Gallery, which exhibited Picasso's masterpiece, Guernica, on its one and only trip to the UK, and Fotografiska London, which is set to become home to London's largest photography gallery when it opens this year, the area is an incubator of creativity, innovation and free-thinking.

Whitechapel's industrial history will be complemented by a fast-paced, connected future, thanks to the opening of a new Crossrail station at the end of the year, just five minutes' walk from The Silk District. Residents will enjoy unrivalled connectivity, thanks to its interchange with the District, Hammersmith & City and Overground lines. Simultaneously, the Elizabeth line will halve journey times to the multitude of business and leisure destinations across London; Canary Wharf will be accessible in three minutes, Bond Street in ten minutes, and London Heathrow in 36 minutes.

Closer to home, The Silk District has been designed to reflect both the height and scale of the surrounding period architecture, echoing Whitechapel's towers, from the nearby Christ Church Spitalfields to the neighbouring Tower House. With two striking towers of 20 and 25 floors respectively, as well as a series of subtle low-rise buildings, the scheme is interwoven through a patchwork of landscaped courtyards and gardens and internal streets, which encourage movement and energy into its very core.

The Jacquard will be delivered in the first phase, and will provide over 100 new, light-filled homes within a tower, providing a sanctuary for each resident. With either a private balcony, winter garden or terrace, The Silk District enjoys views across the local area and the broader cityscape.

Internally, the finishes have been devised to continue the clean vertical lines of the two towers that frame the scheme, creating light-filled, calm living spaces with ample storage. Blending craftsmanship and an exquisite attention to detail, interiors experts SUNA have selected a rich textured palette of fabrics and materials, such as the bespoke terrazzo flooring that evokes a sense of glamour yet provides an enduring practicality. Contemporary kitchen appliances by SMEG and on-trend white taps by Vanguard keep the finish simple, combining beauty and utility.

Beyond each home, the development has been crafted with residents' wellbeing in mind. Each apartment benefits from plentiful natural light, as well as a full suite of amenities that support a modern lifestyle, including flexible workspaces with Wi-Fi and comfortable seating – ideal for working from home, to a rooftop terrace, a 24-hour concierge, and a fully equipped gym with dedicated spin studio. A cinema room with a private bar is also available, which can be hired for private gatherings. In addition, The Silk District offers more than 35,000 sq ft of café and office spaces and up to one acre of public space ensuring maximum integration with the local area.

Jon Hall, Sales Director, Mount Anvil, comments: "Whitechapel is known for its vibrancy, its history, and its rich cultural scene, and has long been a destination for those looking to experience the next trend – whether it's artistic, cultural or foodie. The Silk District represents a unique opportunity to buy into that movement, with its choice of pop-up bars, trendy restaurants, traditional pubs and art exhibitions on the doorstep.

"The imminent arrival of Crossrail at Whitechapel station enhances the area's appeal still further, making it both the best-connected place to live in London, as well as opening the door to capital growth opportunities for owner-occupiers long term.

"With the area's entrepreneurial spirit, we expect The Silk District to attract a range of buyers, from the financiers who work in the surrounding City fringe, to the tech and creative professionals who now work across the East End. Accessibility is critical, and Whitechapel has it in abundance."

Tony Harker, Sales and Customer Service's Director for L&Q's Eastern Region, comments: "An ultimate residential destination for Londoners, Whitechapel has long since held wide-ranging appeal amongst those living in the capital. Known for its rich tapestry of cultural delights, the area is ahead of the curve when it comes to all manner of leisure pursuits. Moreover, Whitechapel is welcoming, is

founded on cultural diaspora, and is a melting pot of diversity. The Silk District represents another hub in which the community can sew its seeds and flourish."

Prices at The Silk District start from £445,000(about HKD4.85 million) for a studio apartment.
