HONG KONG, June 14, 2023 – JLL will join the Venice Architecture Biennale 2023 in Italy to exhibit the urban regeneration and future of Hong Kong. JLL is the first real estate consulting firm to join the event with an exhibit of this kind, which demonstrates the firm's leading role in reshaping the real estate industry.

JLL's Project and Development Services team collaborated with Aravia Design to create an installation for the Biennale titled “To a 200-year city”, dedicated to the future of cities. The installation is constructed from 100% recycled material from used furniture.

Now in its 18th edition, the international architecture exhibition opened on 20 May and continues until 26 November 2023.

Kan Chan, Head of Architecture for Project and Development Services at JLL in Hong Kong, South Korea and Taiwan, said: "The work is part of the 'Time Space Existence' exhibition organised by the European Cultural Centre, which draws attention to the emerging expressions of sustainability in its many forms, ranging from concern for the environment and urban landscape to ongoing conversations about innovation, redevelopment, and community."

"The exhibit focuses on the value of collaboration, bringing projects closer to users, not only through design, but also through location and the design process itself, generating added value for the community and local culture," he added.

Peter Sykes, Managing Director, Project and Development Services at JLL in Hong Kong, South Korea and Taiwan, said: "We are thrilled to be a part of this remarkable exhibition, and excited that we could share our insight and knowledge on the regeneration of Hong Kong with visitors from all over the world. Our exhibition aims to reveal the social and economic impact architecture could bring to the city and how the way of life might be conserved and adapted while sustaining growth through multiple layers of intervention and collaboration."

Matteo Lavazza, Head of Project and Development Services, JLL Italy, said: "We are delighted to have received positive feedback and overwhelming visitor flow from this exhibition. Being part of it enables us to promote our solutions in sustainability, urban landscape, and redevelopment, where we can reach and connect with our clients seeking innovative solutions for their real estate portfolios."

The Venice Architecture Biennale is one of the most prestigious international exhibitions of architecture held in Venice every two years. The 18th International Architecture Exhibition, titled "The Laboratory of the Future", will be hosted at the Giardini and the Arsenale, and at Forte Marghera in Italy. It is curated by Lesley Lokko and organised by La Biennale di Venezia. It will be the first major exhibition in this discipline to test in the field the process of achieving carbon neutrality, while reflecting on the themes of decolonisation and decarbonisation.
