Coming out of the cubicle
How international law firm Ince and Co embraced a modern, collaborative workplace strategy.
At first glance, you might not think Ince & Co’s office is home to an international law firm. Gone are the cubicles and corner offices, replaced with an open-plan workspace, colourful corners for casual meetings, and a wall covered with lush greenery.
That’s because Ince & Co’s goal when they relocated was to create a modern, open plan space that would help colleagues communicate and collaborate better.
We worked on every aspect of the client’s move, from leasing the office to its interior design, construction and fit-out. We even kept employees engaged by creating a physical mock-up of the office to help them visualise how their new space would look and feel when they moved in.
To take the stress out of the project for Ince & Co, we managed all of the tendering and procurement—making sure we were fully transparent in hiring each vendor—and held all of the contracts with suppliers and contractors.
JLL's technology platforms helped to keep the project and decision making on track. We were able to share quotes, tender documents, and Health & Safety reports online in real time, while benchmarking data helped us estimate costs for building works, furniture, IT platforms, and more.
Construction of the 10,000 sq. ft. space was completed in less than 10 weeks, faster than Ince & Co thought possible. The entire project was completed within budget and a tight time frame of just seven months.
JLL handled our project exceptionally well and were always responsive to any concerns and requirements that we might have had. JLL were, at all times, in absolute command of the process and were always available to provide sensible and practical advice. Most importantly, they constantly demanded the very best of all our contractors. We moved into our new offices on time and on budget and this was due, in large part, to JLL. We are the proud occupiers of what must be one of the most beautifully and functionally well-built offices for a law firm in Hong Kong.
