January 06, 2020

HONG KONG, 06 January 2020 – Mount Anvil, in a joint venture partnership with L&Q, is launching its penultimate phase, The Georgette South at its vibrant development The Silk District in London’s Whitechapel. Standing seven floors tall, with views of Canary Wharf, the 71 new apartments range from studios to three bed apartments with prices starting at £467,000.

The Georgette South, sits within The Silk District, an exciting development in Whitechapel, which is undergoing a huge transformation, the development forms part of the Mayor’s £300m regeneration project in the area, along with an influx of businesses and interest from the opening of the Elizabeth Line (Crossrail). Located on Sidney Street and Stepney Way, it is less than a 5-minute walk from the station and the amenities of the high street.

Synonymous with the silk trade, Whitechapel harbours an industrial heritage that dates back centuries to the craftsmanship and creativity of the French Huguenots – the silk weaving artisans who settled in the area during the 17th century. This legacy has been suffused into the new phase’s name and identity, which today assimilates the cutting-edge fashion and style for which East London is renowned, creating a stylish collection of homes built to foster a new community.

The apartments at The Georgette South are generous in size, with the floorplans showcasing example layouts to make the most of the space; whether it’s a studio or three-bed home, all homes have been thought out to create a space ready to move into the functions of live built in to preserve the clean and contemporary lines with Siemens premium appliances, built in wardrobes with LED lights and underfloor heating. All apartments will also have access to a private balcony or terrace.

Jon Hall, Group Sales Director at Mount Anvil, comments: “The Silk District has proved extremely popular with young professionals and investors alike, they are drawn to the area as much as the development as they can see the long-term potential of both. The apartments are generous in size, in an envious location and development; the area is undergoing a huge transformation, with a surge of local artistry and other institutions.

“Buyers so far are excited to live in the historic district of Whitechapel, they remark on its vibrancy and its world-class cultural scene, not to mention its proximity to the financial hubs of The City and Canary Wharf. What’s more, with the imminent arrival of the Elizabeth line (Crossrail), Whitechapel is supercharged, making it one of the best-connected places in London.”

Residents at The Georgette South will be able to enjoy first-class amenities including a fully equipped gym with spin studio and rooftop terrace. Residents will also benefit from a WiFi-enabled flexible working space –ideal when working from home, and a 24-hour concierge to keep a busy lifestyle flowing. A cinema room, which features full length sofas and a bar area, can be booked out by residents to enjoy a private film viewing or sporting event with like-minded friends. In addition, The Silk District offers more than 35,000 sq ft of café and office spaces and up to one acre of public space ensuring maximum integration with the local area.

For those in search of a thriving arts and cultural scene, The Georgette South is within easy reach of the rich tapestry of culture and leisure opportunities that punctuate the East End. Renowned for its avant-garde artistic scene, Whitechapel is as an incubator of innovation and free-thinking, and is famed for institutions such as the revered Whitechapel Gallery, and Fotografiska London.

Ideally located between two of London’s largest financial districts, the City and Canary Wharf, Whitechapel is attracting financial professionals, as well as the workers of London’s thriving tech and start-up scene.

Already well-connected given its interchange with the District, Hammersmith & City and Overground lines, residents will also benefit from a fast paced, connected future, thanks to the opening of a new Crossrail station, which is just five minutes’ walk from The Silk District. The Elizabeth line (Crossrail) will supercharge Whitechapel’s convenience, halving journey times to the multitude of business and leisure destinations across London; Canary Wharf will be accessible in three minutes, Bond Street in ten minutes, and London Heathrow in 36 minutes.
