Global consumer goods giant makes massive sustainability strides

JLL enables global consumer goods company to achieve substantial energy, waste and water savings over 10-year period.

A leading global consumer goods company tasked JLL with developing and implementing an ambitious utilities reduction plan across its portfolio of worldwide corporate offices and innovation centers. JLL has a long-established track record in providing real estate services to the client, partnering on transaction, project and facilities management across 111 sites, globally.

JLL brought together a global team to execute energy and sustainability services locally and regionally. JLL facilities management tools and smart buildings technologies, such as Corrigo and IntelliCommand, were used for portfolio optimization and process improvements. For example, IntelliCommand was programmed to create work orders in Corrigo to help the client solve dramatic variations in utilities’ consumption.

Set an energy reduction target of 20% over a ten-year period, JLL has delivered a 22% reduction from the FY0910 baseline, and cut water and waste by 75% and 36%, respectively (over the same period). The energy and water savings represent the equivalent to the annual consumption of over 7,100 U.S. households and the water used to fill over 2,300 Olympic-sized swimming pools. While waste diverted from landfills is equivalent in weight to 673 elephants, or 48 blue wales per year.

JLL’s engineering and sustainability teams are continuing to support the client’s new 2030 ambitions. The ambitious utilities reduction plan has now evolved to encompass a holistic approach integrating with all the services JLL provides to the client across all sites.
