Current responsibilities
Matt Clifford is the Head of Energy and Sustainability team across Asia Pacific​.

He is responsible for overall project quality and delivery across the ESS business. Matt and his team specialised in Green building certification, including LEED (Pan-Asia), BREEAM, Green Mark (Singapore), Green Star, NABERS (Australia) and more. They also focus on energy management across the design and operation of real estate assets, as well as data and compliance management.

Prior to his current role, Matt was the Head of Energy and Sustainability Services for North Asia​, ​managing a team of specialists across five cities and three countries. Before that, he was Sustainability Director for JLL's Integrated Facilities Management, and Property and Asset Management divisions, operating across Asia Pacific. During this time, Matt led the development of a global energy and sustainability programme for HSBC and consequently acted as the global lead for its roll-out across 72 countries and many thousands of client sites. The initiative is ongoing and delivers multi-million dollar savings for HSBC each year. 

Matt was also previously a National Sustainability Manager for JLL's Integrated Facilities Management, and Property and Asset Management divisions in Australia. In this role he worked on some of the largest and most successful energy programmes in the country, for ANZ, Telstra, Suncorp and others. 

Matt has also worked in-house for Mirvac, an Australian Real Estate Investment Trust (REIT) and developer, and for Hyder Consulting. 

Matt holds a Bachelor of Science and a Bachelor of Asian Studies (Mandarin Chinese specialism) from the Australian National University. 

He also obtained a Post Graduate Diploma of Management from the Macquarie Graduate School of Management and an Advanced Chinese Language Certificate from the Beijing Language and Culture University.

Matt is a Green Star Accredited Professional.
