Berkeley Homes Unveils South Quay Plaza

The UK’s Tallest Residential Scheme, moments to Canary Wharf

HONG KONG, 12 October 2016 – Due to exceptional demand Berkeley Homes South East London Ltd will be launching the new batch of flats at South Quay Plaza, the UK's tallest residential scheme, in the historical London Docklands. South Quay Plaza will bring a vibrant, mixed-use and sustainable waterside development to E14, creating London's youngest landmark. The prices start at £695,000 (about HKD6.63 million).

Set to change the London skyline, the Foster + Partners designed landmark project will include a 68 storey, 220m tower and a smaller 36 storey tower. The development will total more than a million square feet and deliver 888 residential properties, including 188 affordable homes, together with cafes, shops and restaurants. In keeping with its commitment to place making at South Quay Plaza, Berkeley Homes, one of London's most prestigious developers, will generate over 1.6 acres of landscaped public space, including a new dockside promenade and a pocket park.

The proximity to London City Airport already provides excellent business links to New York, Paris and Zurich, but this will be further enhanced with the arrival of the Crossrail in 2018, connecting Heathrow to Canary Wharf in less than 40 minutes.

Renowned for its famous projects including The British Museum, Hong Kong International Airport and the Hearst Tower in New York, award winning architects Foster + Partners have been appointed to design both the architecture and interiors of the development which reflect a striking and contemporary style to complement the capital's skyline.

The scheme will offer a selection of light and spacious, studio, one, two, three bedroom apartments and penthouses.  Each space within every property has been carefully considered and meticulously designed to reflect the needs and requirements of modern urban living. The iconic stepped tower structure will be built at a 45 degree rotation to maximise water views and dual aspects and each apartment within the scheme will have floor to ceiling glazing, which will offer an uninterrupted panorama of the city's skyline.

Residents will also benefit from an exclusive, state of the art health club and spa which is complete with a 20m double height panoramic swimming pool, whilst the entire 56th floor is dedicated to a residents' club lounge including a bar, screening room, business lounge and an enormous terrace with outside bar and dining facilities. Additionally, a 24 hour concierge service will be on hand to provide assistance from booking restaurants to organising transportation.

Harry Lewis, Managing Director, Berkeley Homes (South East London) comments, "At Berkeley Homes all of our developments are designed not only to be fantastic places to live but also to permanently enhance the neighbourhoods in which they are located. At South Quay Plaza, we have gone one step further by creating a visionary scheme of outstanding design quality, both inside and out, with superb residents' facilities and 1.6 acres of beautifully landscaped gardens and public realm. With the help of Foster + Partners, this sets a new benchmark for quality London living."

Grant Brooker, Senior Partner, Foster + Partners states, "On a wonderful site at the intersection of the historic docks, South Quay Plaza offers spectacular views out across Canary Wharf and the Isle of Dogs. Every aspect of the design has been considered – both inside and out – to create a world-class residential building. Set within green parkland that adds to the public realm, we believe this is an extraordinary new place for London."

Planning permission for the site was granted in April 2015. Construction is due to begin in January 2016, with completion of the first phase expected in 2020. The appointed sales agent on the scheme is JLL.
